Carpenter's trade

An old and important skill is the carpenter's trade, that needs not only tools for the wood carving in order to built dwellings and shelters but also technical knowledge of joining, raising and orientation. A settlement known for this kind of occupation is Brusturoasa in Bacau as well as Somanesti village in Gorj. Two typical traditional artistic Romanian trades are also the furrier's trade and the manufacturing of the thick long coat used in the folkloric costume by men. This coat has a very old tradition.

Black ceramics

The pottery is assured by the Romanian people's continuity in this territory, the pottery tradition existing since the Dacian age to nowadays. The ceramics articles distinguish through the forms' elegance and the decoration.

The traditional ceramics is shaped at the wheel. Its burning is usually made in horizontal stoves through two techniques: with oxidation and without oxidation.
