Situated on the same Prahova Valley as Predeal or Sinaia, at 880 metres altitude, it is the main access gate towards the touristic and alpine tracks in the Bucegi Mountains. The Sphinx and the Babele (Old Women), true natural monuments created by erosion of the rocks during time by wind and rain, together with the Cross of Heroes (49 metres high, innaugurated in 1927 on the Caraiman peak in honour of the Romanian heroes dead during World War I) represent the most important attractions of the resort. Busteni is in possession of an impressive number of accommodation places in hotels (the most important being Silva situated near to the funicular station), villas, boarding houses or in camping.
